In Ayurveda, Nasya—meaning "nose" in Sanskrit—is a valued part of dinacharya, the daily self-care routine. This time-honored practice involves applying herbal-infused oil to your nasal passages for its clearing, lubricating, and protective effects.
By nourishing the delicate tissues inside your nose, Nasya helps clear the way for smooth, balanced breathing. Ayurveda teaches that this practice not only enhances your senses and sharpens mental clarity but also encourages the free flow of prana—the vital life force that energizes your body and mind.
Nasya is especially beneficial when the air feels dry, cold, dusty, or heavy with pollen. It's a grounding ritual that can help calm the airy qualities of vata dosha, bringing balance to your day.
To breathe deeply is to live more fully.

This is my favorite brand of Nasya oil—made by Paavani!
How to Use
Daily: A drop of nasya oil can be applied with a cotton swab or a clean finger just inside each nostril.
As needed: 3 – 5 drops of nasya oil can be applied in each nostril with your head tilted back. Take several deep “sniffs” in before raising your head. It's best to take a moment to rest after applying the oil, but if you're on the go, keep a tissue nearby just in case.
Avoid using nasya oil drops if there is a known sinus infection. It is not recommended to use Nasya oil drops directly after using the neti pot. If irritation occurs, discontinue use. Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and moisture.
